Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission to Hold Hearings in Bakersfield

The commission created by Congress to investigate the collapse of the U.S. economy announced Thursday it will soon hold four field hearings in some of the nation’s hardest-hit communities, the first one in Bakersfield.

The bi-partisan Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, created by Congress to study the downturn in the nation’s economy, is going to hold hearings in several communities across the country in order to hear from individuals. The commission has already heard from Wall Street, now it’s time for Main Street.

First stop: Bakersfield, on Sept. 7, most likely because the commission Vice Chairman is former Rep. Bill Thomas, R-Bakersfield. The other hearings are to be held Sept. 8 in Las Vegas; Sept. 21 in Miami; and Sept. 23 in Sacramento. All the hearings will be open to the public.
