Help for Navy Man Who is Possible Victim of Elder Financial Fraud

In a story published last week in the California Real Estate Fraud Report, a 93 year-old Navy man who is a survivor of Pearl Harbor is getting help from other sailors.

Lt. Brian Ponce of the U.S. Navy heard about Arnold Bauer’s plight and contacted the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. Lt. Ponce is organizing a team of fellow sailors to clean up Bauer’s El Cajon home so that Bauer can move back in. Milagros Angeles, his former caretaker, was arrested with thousands of dollars of cash in her pockets and charged with elder abuse.

In reference to the condition of Arnold Bauer and his home, Sgt. Mark Varnau of the San Diego Sheriff’s Department Elder Abuse Unit: “This is not caregiving. To keep another human being in such conditions is inhumane.”
