Fremont Investment Requests Delay in Crisp & Cole Trial

An attorney for Fremont Investment and Loan, the subprime lender that went bankrupt as the result of the real estate downturn, has requested Kern County Superior Court Judge David Lampe to delay the trial against agents Realtors David Crisp and Carl Cole. The two former high-powered agents are named in the civil suit along with 85 other defendants, including Realtors®, appraisers, title companies and others real estate professionals.

Fremont claims it was defrauded by Crisp and Cole et. al. in a mortgage fraud involving more than 100 mortgage loans that allegedly totaled $23 million. Its attorney, Michael St. Denis, asked for the postponement until the criminal case against some of the defendants has been heard, due to 5th Amendment concerns.
